The First Game

Alright so now we have figured out what our first game is gonna be. It’s gonna be a math-based, multiple choice, right or wrong game. So basically who wants to be a millionaire without all the fancy stuff and being for young math students.

If you think you know somewhere that might help put in all that fancy stuff, please feel free to leave a comment telling us.

Alright so it has been a week or so and we still are learning how to make flash games. Something that we both learned is that making flash games requires a bunch of code and also is quite difficult. Now along the way we have also come accross some problems. One of them being that we can’t find a whole lot of tutorials or games for that matter to go off of. There are a couple of our sources out there that have helped us out and currently we are using a site called actionscript.org that has helped quite a bit. We are currently working on making a simple game/program. It should get pretty interesting being the first one that either my partner Chris or I have ever worked on. We are getting close to finishing the game and there will be tutorials to come. If any of you have any tips or sites that you think will help us then please post a comment. Thanks

Jay

Hey there, So right now we have some code that we’re working with, just to give us a basic understanding. Once we’re done with that, we’ll create a tutorial and get that material out to you guys. If you guys want to know what we’re up to, here’s a link to what the tutorial WE are reading. Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Short Update

This week probably we will be updating on our progress on our school project about flash games. If any of you have any ideas about the best way to learn how to make flash games or know about a good site to teach us then please let us know thanks.

Blog Post Numero Uno!

The Nuts and BoltsHello! I’m Chris, and I’m teaming up with J on this project! We’ve decided to investigate Flash Games, and give you helps and tutorials as we learn about it too!

We chose flash games (over the other sections) because we’ve already done a bit of Flash Animation, we happen to have flash on our computers, and we are interested in games, so this is the best (educational) combination.

Anyone who uses flash, or is planning on using flash should check these materials (that we provide) out because of the educational value these tools present.

Personally, I’m in this to learn how to make a good, developed, mildly-complex flash game. I’ve played hundreds of them, and I want to now learn to make them (the way I am with just about everything).

Our goals (as set by our professor) are to learn our tool, get proficient with our tool, create some tutorials for our tool, and blog about it all.

Like I’ve said, we’ve already done many tutorials, and have gotten proficient with the Adobe – Flash program, and now we’re diving into Games, so some of the material may be covered in a manner which can only be understood with an individual with pre-existing flash knowledge and experience.

We’ve found many tutorials on Flash, and Flash Animation, but there are very few resources on Flash Animation that would be deemed “reliable sources of information,” so for the most part we’ll be going off of what we learn first-hand.

Since this is our first post, we don’t have any real information on Flash Games, but that’s in part because we’re still getting used to all of the controls, and have yet to start making games (as soon as we do, we’ll start on our tutorials).

One more thing, here’s a great recource by tutorialized.com for Flash Game Tutorials (for those of you who wish to get a jump start).

Have a nice weekend and next week as well (we’re on Spring Break)!
